LINEUP DECISIONS

Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice for Your Roster

A higher-ranked player is not always the right starter for your team. Start with your scoring rules, eligible positions, and the players you can still move.

A practical start/sit checklist

  1. Use the same scoring basis. Compare players using your league's reception points, passing-touchdown values, bonuses, and lineup slots. A PPR projection and a standard-scoring projection are not interchangeable.
  2. Check the week. A season-long ranking says little about an individual week's opportunity. Look for projections that match the current season and week.
  3. Confirm availability. Review injuries, bye weeks, and kickoff times. No injury designation in a snapshot does not confirm that a player will suit up.
  4. Respect lineup locks. A player who has already started a game may no longer be a valid swap. Confirm the final lock on your league platform.
  5. Compare your actual alternative. The useful question is which eligible player improves your open slot, not which player has the biggest number on a generic board.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

A projected edge is an estimate

If your eligible bench receiver projects for 12.4 points and your current FLEX projects for 10.8 on the same scoring basis, the projected difference is 1.6 points. That is a reason to review the swap, not a guarantee of 1.6 extra points.

If either player's kickoff or projection is unverified, check the underlying information before acting. Benching a player for a week also does not mean that you should drop them.

How Fantasy Monster helps

Connect a Yahoo, Sleeper, or ESPN league and select your team. The app brings your roster, available weekly data, and player updates into the same workspace. Ask “Who should I start this week?” or review the weekly plan for supported lineup checks.

Coverage depends on the connected platform and the evidence available. Missing projections are shown as missing; they should not be interpreted as zero. Fantasy Monster's connection is read-only, so you make the final lineup change on your league platform.

Before kickoff

Refresh your league, check late player news, and keep an eligible fallback if a starter is questionable. A recommendation based on an earlier report may need another review after a new injury update.
